Recruitment and Selection Procedures
Recruitment and Selection Procedures
The Carmelite Order acknowledges that child safeguarding starts with the appointment of suitably qualified and vetted church personnel who have the desired competence and skills to carry out their function in an effective, efficient and safe manner. Therefore, all church personnel employed by the Order, either in a pastoral or voluntary role, must be recruited safely and deemed suitable for the role that they are being asked to undertake. Thus:
- All reasonable steps are taken to ensure that we exclude applicants who might pose a risk to children.
- Those engaged in the recruitment process are suitably trained and experienced to undertake this task.
- The Carmelite Order’s recruitment procedures are transparent, adhere to best practice and comply with the rules of natural justice, appropriate record-keeping and human resource management.
- The Carmelite Order is committed to the policy of inclusion and equality.
The following procedures, together with Garda Vetting and appropriate Safeguarding Training, help to ensure that all staff and volunteers are recruited and selected in accordance with best Safeguarding practices
