Join Us for a Day of Golf in Support of Those Most in Need

Friday, 17 July 2026
Grange Golf Club, Rathfarnham

Greetings from Whitefriar Street Church and Community Centre.

Following the great success of last year’s Golf Classic, we are delighted to invite you to support this year’s event, which will take place on Friday, 17 July 2026, in the wonderful surroundings of Grange Golf Club, Rathfarnham.

At the heart of this event is the work of Whitefriar Street Social Services—a ministry that has become more essential than ever.

Responding to Real Need in Our Community

In Dublin city centre today, many people are facing pressures that are often hidden in plain sight. The rising cost of living continues to place enormous strain on individuals and families—particularly in relation to rent, heating, and everyday expenses. We are increasingly encountering people who are working, yet still unable to make ends meet.

Alongside this, homelessness and insecure housing remain a constant reality for many, while isolation, mental health challenges, and family breakdown add further layers of difficulty.

We are also seeing a growing number of people who find themselves in sudden crisis—through illness, job loss, or unexpected financial burdens—leaving them unsure of where to turn. For many, the basic necessities of life—food, warmth, and stability—cannot be taken for granted.

Through Whitefriar Street Social Services, we are able to respond directly and compassionately to these needs. We provide practical support such as assistance with utility bills, food vouchers, clothing, bedding, and essential household items.

We work closely with the local Society of St Vincent de Paul Conference based in the Priory and in partnership with the Alice Leahy Trust to ensure that those most in need are not left without help.

Alongside this, our Community Crèche enables parents to return to education and begin rebuilding stability for their families, while our counselling service offers a vital space for those dealing with bereavement, stress, and personal difficulties—though demand for this service continues to exceed what we can currently provide.

Quite simply, the need has never been greater.

More Than a Day of Golf

❤️ Every round played can help change a life.

Behind every request for support is a real person: a family trying to keep the heating on, a parent worried about putting food on the table, or a child needing the essentials for a new school year.

The Whitefriar Street Social Services Golf Classic is more than a day on the course. It is an opportunity to come together as a community and support the vital work of Whitefriar Street Social Services, while also helping the local Society of St Vincent de Paul Conference and the Alice Leahy Trust.

Every contribution—whether through entering a team, sponsorship, or donation—goes directly towards supporting those who rely on us. Your generosity enables us not only to respond to immediate needs, but to do so in a way that upholds the dignity of each person who comes to us.
