Whitefriar Street Church is a Dublin landmark.  Run by the Carmelite friars, it is a true oasis of peace and prayer in the midst of a bustling city. Visitors are often surprised by the sheer size of the church which is bright and airy, and yet invites people to find their own space within.  The many candles which burn throughout the day contribute to the prayerful atmosphere.  Many who come here are drawn to visit the statue of Our Lady of Dublin and the relics of St Valentine. 

Whitefriar Street is a busy parish and is, therefore, a focal point for important moments in the lives of local people.  In a way, however, Whitefriar Street is a parish without boundaries which welcomes people of all backgrounds from all over Dublin, Ireland, and further afield. The praise and worship of God and serving the spiritual needs of people is at the centre of the life of Whitefriar Street Church. So also is a commitment to social care.  The Carmelite Community Centre is the location for many community-based projects and services.
