Vulnerable Adults Policy
Vulnerable Adults Policy
The area of safeguarding vulnerable adults is one which is very much still in development. In his Apostolic letter, issued Motu Proprio, Vos estis Lux Mundi (2019), Pope Francis defines a vulnerable person as “any person in a state of infirmity, physical or mental deficiency, or deprivation of personal liberty which, in fact, even occasionally, limits their ability to understand or to want or otherwise resist the offence”. The Irish Province of Carmelites have developed Interim Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults Policy and Procedures and will continue to develop these policy and procedures in line with Church and State guidance. The following are links to relevant documentation.
