It was a joyful day for the Carmelite Family as Bro. Paul Niralakanta Nayak, O.Carm., made his Solemn Profession of vows at Gort Muire on Sunday, 11 October.
During the 11.30am Mass, Bro. Paul made his lifelong profession in the Carmelite Order, committing himself to a life of prayer, fraternity and service in Carmel. His profession was received by Fr Praveen Lawrence, O.Carm., Commissary General of the Indian General Commissariat of St Thérèse and St Albert.
Solemn Profession marks a particularly significant moment in the journey of a Carmelite. Following Simple Profession—a period of formation during which a Carmelite lives the vows of chastity, poverty and obedience while continuing to grow through prayer, community life, study and participation in the life and work of the Province—the profession of solemn vows represents a lifelong commitment.
Through Solemn Profession, a Carmelite commits himself for the rest of his life to live in allegiance to Jesus Christ according to the Carmelite way of life. It is both the culmination of years of formation and the beginning of a new stage of faithful service, rooted in prayer, fraternity and the charism and spirituality of Carmel.
We give thanks to God for Bro. Paul’s vocation, for all those who have accompanied him throughout his years of formation, and for this important moment in his Carmelite journey.
We pray that the Lord will continue to strengthen him in his vocation and that Our Lady of Mount Carmel will accompany him always as he follows Christ in faithful and joyful service.
Congratulations, Bro. Paul!
Our Lady of Mount Carmel, pray for us.
