On Saturday November 14th, 2020, the feast of all Carmelite Saints, the Carmelite family in Zimbabwe celebrated the priestly ordination of Herbert Nyamangwanda, Paul Mutsengi Charidza and Vitalis Chiromba. They received the sacrament of Holy Orders at the Cathedral of the Most Holy Trinity in Mutare. Bishop Paul Horan, O. Carm., presided over the ordination as main celebrant and ordaining prelate. This is a sign of growth for Carmel in Zimbabwe. We pray for the three that as they begin their priestly ministry, they may find joy, health and sustenance from God who has called them to work in his vineyard.
While the Covid-19 restrictions limited the number who could attend the celebration. The wider Carmelite Family were with the three men in prayer and spirit on the day. Among the uncertainty of the present days, the ordinations are a moment of joy and hope for all who are associated with the Order.
We continue to pray that Our Lady of Mount Carmel and all the Carmelite Saints may intercede for all the Carmelites in Zimbabwe and all those who are making life possible for us. We are very aware of the fact that the foundation of Carmel in Zimbabwe was only made possible by the generous support and work of so many people in Ireland and beyond. The growth of our presence here in Zimbabwe is the fruit of that kindness and generosity. We thank you sincerely for all your help, and also for your kind thoughts and prayers.
