Kildare
Welcome to the website of the Carmelite Community in Kildare, and home to White Abbey and the friars who serve the town through chaplaincies to nursing homes, spiritual direction and visiting the sick.
The 140 feet spire of the Carmelite church has been a landmark for people visiting Kildare town since the end of the nineteenth century. The Rose window in the church itself is of special interest, with a central representation of the Prophet Elijah, the spiritual Father of the Carmelites. You are welcome to come and see.
White Abbey, the Carmelite Church in Kildare, plays an important role in the life of the town. It is a place of prayer and devotion. Through the celebration of the sacraments and devotional prayer, it provides a place of quiet and contemplation for the local community. The church shop and hall are also places of meeting and community. The friars also serve the town in other ways, such as chaplaincies to nursing homes, spiritual direction and visiting the sick.
