Unfortunately, due to Covid-19, our annual pilgrimage to Lourdes Shrine has, again, had to be postponed. Last year, a Virtual Pilgrimage consisting of videos from various locations across Ireland, together with liturgical celebrations from Dublin, was broadcast through YouTube. This year local communities together, with their local Lourdes Committee, will compile their own celebration of the anniversary.
The Carmelite Friary, Kinsale, together with the Kinsale Carmelite Lourdes Committee will host a Triduum of Masses. The early hermits on Mount Carmel dedicated their first oratory to Mary, the ‘Lady of the Place’ as a sign of their closeness to the Blessed Virgin. Similarly, we can truly call her Lady of the Blessed Sacrament because of her proximity to Christ in his trials, tribulations and death on the Cross. Hence, our focus is on the Mass/Eucharist highlighting Sickness; Mission; Vocation to Consecrated Life.
The timetable for the Triduum is:
Thursday 30th September:
10.00 am & 7.00 pm Mass of the Sick with the Sacrament of Healing.
Friday 1st October:
10.00 am & 7.00 pm Feast of St Thérèse of Lisieux with Blessing of Roses.
Saturday 2nd October:
10.00 am only Feast of the Guardian Angels focusing on St Joseph and Vocations to Priesthood and Religious Life.
Roses and Candles will be available for sale at the Friary Church.
Due to Covid-19, understandably, numbers attending the church will have to comply with regulations. Nevertheless, we are looking forward to meeting up with all our past pilgrims and friends of the Friary which takes in the Grottos from Nohoval; Clontead; the Friary; Ballinspittle; to the Bandon area. If you are unable to attend in person, you can join us through our webcam by clicking here.
